Vinted Members Express Displeasure Regarding Size Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change.

Social Media Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.

Measurement Approach Updates

Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.

Required Changes

Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
