Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Party
Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his own means, invading the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This results in them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
